Repotting Cyms

I have 2 cyms that need to be re-potted. It may be too late for one. I noticed some snails and haven't done anything about it. Although it does have quite a few new growths. I've been rather lazy lately . Any advice on getting rid of snails until I can re-pot?

What kind of potting media is best for these. My humidity runs about 45% on average, less in the winter and slightly higher in the summer around 50%. I grow under lights, but these are too tall to fit under them, so they are close to windows. The one with snails is far away from my other chids, so she is getting less light.
I will also have to divide one. It's literally bursting out of it's pot. Is three p-bulbs per pot adequate? If so, I will have about 3-4 pots of this one. I will have to find pots big enough for these, she is a monster!

These are my first cyms and I want to do this right. I love the color and shape of the flowers and want them to do well and re-bloom for me.

Without rehashing all the dos and dont's of repotting which may or not apply to your conditions, search through this section of the OB and see if you can find the threads on repotting. There have been so many with most of them carrying excellent advice.

If you still have specific questions, let us know and we will help you out.

First, get rid of those snails with a snail bait. A couple of small dolops of Deadline in the top of the pot would be a good start. Also, if the weather is now going above freezing at night, get them outside in a 50/50 sun/shade environment. Go easy on direct sun for the first couple of weeks to avoid sunburn. Most Cymbidiums will not do well kept in the house all year. They need higher light than indoor lighting or even window lighting generally can provide.

Amanda L-> I'm no help with snails but don't you worry cyms are tough fighters and will pull through! I havent got mine to re bloom yet but its wonderful to see how fast it grows new, long roots. GOOD LUCK! and let me know how you get on!
