I've updated your pictures for you. All of them can also be clicked on to get bigger versions. Blogspot images are stored in Picasa which I'm quite familiar with. It's not an easy one to post images but it is possible.

I'm afraid I can't help with the ID's, maybe someone else can, but it may not be possible if there are several that look the same.

Once a label is lost, it is almost impossible to again put the correct name on a plant. That is why I always put an extra label in the bottom of the pot and sometimes write an abbreviated name in white wax pencil on the pot too.

Your plants are typical of many mericlones in circulation today so I feel it is doubtful the names can be reliably found. I recommend you put temporary labels in them, identifying them by a number and a color. This way, at least you will have them identified within your collection.

The only possible way of getting an ID is if your friend had more than one division of the same plant and the original label from one of those survived and you can compare the flowers. Only blooming out all the plants will tell on this possible piece of luck.

It also helps to keep an inventory record. Process of elimination once blooming begins.

And add to that record not only a description of the plant with its color, but where each plant was originally obtained.

Setting up a record of your plants need not be difficult. I use a simple Excel file but I have also used a Word table format. If you are not on a computer, merely take lined paper and draw columns on it for the data you want to enter. I recommend Name (of plant), parents (if known), color, size (standard, novelty or miniature), where purchased, and when last potted. These are the basic columns.

It appears you helped your friend and perhaps you can help her more by helping her set up a list of the plants she has. It is fun to sit with someone and relive the source of their plants. If this is not an option with her plants, perhaps you can relive the source of your own plants before the memory dims.

I still have fun telling the story of how and where a friend and I bought our first Cymbidiums in bloom and how we brought them home in my friend's Corvette!
