Default Cym. Spike?

Does anyone have a picture of what a cymbidium spike looks like in it's early stages? I should have taken a picture of mine, but the spike is maybe about an inch tall if that and it is a purplish color. I have never seen a cymbidium spike since I am fairly new to cymbidiums, so I was wondering if this color was normal. I think it has grown a little bit, but I am not sure if I am just imagining things TIA

Yours is purple? Ummm mines not, it's just green. But that doesn't mean yours is NOT a spike.
The spikes look flat. As you can see, I'm a big help
Dang should have taken a pic!! I think I still can as it looks like theres' a few possible spikes.

A flower spike is chubbier than leaf growth and not so pointed. I think your purplish color is simply a reaction to strong light.

Here is a pic courtesy of www.easyorchids.co.uk

Good luck with the growth, keep us posted. Be great to see some pictures.

Great photo, Dave!
Perhaps the spike color is an indication of the flower colors?
