Help with Cymbidium back bulbs.

Sometimes they rot.. just the way it is. Toss the bad fuzzy one. I also check to see if they are too soft and toss those. You will lose a few. Nothing to be upset about. Just the way it is. Too much moisture will certainly be a way to generate more fungus but mostly it was a bad bulb to start with. And no it's not sterile in the baggie..One way to help is be sure the bulb is as free of extraneous dry old leaf sheaths and roots and dirt.

So it's been 2 months and I have some very good news. Do you remember the Back Bulb that had a little bit of white fuzz growing on it? Well I didn't toss it. I just opened the bag now and then letting the air circulate. And it really payed off as finally I have new growths on both sides!

Obviously there is still a long, looong way to go but atleast something is happening!
The rest of the PB are not doing anything though.. The one that had started growing roots has now stopped and its not doing ANYTHING. But I'll not give up just yet. it payed off with one so maybe it will work on the others too with some patience.

You may have better results with the root growth if you bury the BB about 1/3 to 1/2 its length. It also helps to keep it upright. Do not be afraid to bury part of the new growth in the process.

When the new growth elongates and the roots grow, the bulb should not wobble in the pot. It does not make the roots happy at all if it does.

Cym Ladye -> Thanks for the tip! I've been a little worried about burying the PB deeper in case it rots the new growths.. But I'll be sure to push it in a little more as the PB is quite wobble at the minute.
