This is interesting orchids3. I would like to know what you would recommend for the midwest, specifically St. Louis, MO.

Climate is the most important factor as Mother Nature will most assuredly dictate how and where you grow. Growing in a greenhouse is much different from growing outside or moving plants from house to outside, ie. "in and out growing" as I have come to call it. Wherever you live, you have to make a decision on how to protect your plants, whether from too much heat or too much cold.

Actually I answered this before - but OB has the habit of dropping my login when I try to sent. Hope it works this time.
Will probably move to Arkansas so have been considering what to use in the Mid-West. Will start with the same mix I use in Fla. 3 parts Stalite to 1 part CHC with a cup of 1:1 Granular Dolomite Lime : Crushed Sea shell for every three gallons. I use the either saucers under my pots or resevoir pots. Some call that Semi Hydroponic.
