Thumbs up Cymbidium Golden Elf

Cymbidium Golden Elf (Cymbidium ensifolium × Cymbidium Enid Haupt) is a plant I purchased 2 years ago. This is the first year I have been able to get it to bloom. This is the second spike.

The plant is in a 7" tall pot and is about 20" tall. The flower spread is 3 inches and has a slight fragrance.

Has anyone seen a variety other than 'Sunburst' ? My tag is barely legible but the variety name is not sunburst.

It's likely 'Sundust' HCC/AOS, not 'Sunburst'

The plant came from Jack Webster's collection. His handwritten tags are hard to read. The variety name looks like:

C ? y a i a

As best as I can decipher -- so I don't think it's Sundust or sunburst.

I had to wait two years to bloom the plant, then it took me weeks to figure out it is Golden Elf

Mine are Cym Golden Elf 'Sundust' . Its a good reliable bloomer and very warmth tollerant in N. Florida. I have several because it grows like a weed and has been divided many times.

I got a couple of divisions of 'Sundust' earlier this year and hope I can get it to bloom next year. As far as I can find, there is only 'Sundust' listed for Golden Elf.

Actually, the cultivar Cymbidium Golden Elf 'Thekweni Lemon Cream' received an AM at the South African Orchid Congress in 2003. It's a much deeper, brighter yellow that 'Sundust'.

My 'Sundust' is in a 18" x 24" tall S/H pot made from a florists' cooler bucket.

This was the first I'd heard of a cultivar other than 'Sundust', too!
