The point is this - we usually use what is available in our area. The major cost of potting materials is shipping. In Florida there are no rocks of any kind (except Marle) and if you do use volcanic pumice - it probably is a lot less costly than it is in Florida. We ship in almost all rock. I grew up in Idaho where there were huge lava floes - so the comment was a little bit due to frustration. Having found a material that is is most available (Stalite Gravel and CHC) and most cost effective for me - well I will just stick with it but rodrigo may find volcanic pumice available and useful in his location. If it would work for me - I just cant say.
