Hey Adam,
Very nice selection of blooms and is the second one a warm tolerant one? If so, what are you doing to get it to bloom. I purchased one last year and it was blooming size, but not achieved that lofty goal yet.

The second one is unknown as of yet to me; it was with a batch of imports from Taiwan and was simply labeled Cym. species; I think it might be lowianum, but I am not yet sure. This is the first time it's bloomed for me; I'm afraid that I don't know if it's a warm grower--I grow almost all of my cymbid outdoors in the summer and grow them cold (43F nights) in the winter...

Mine is ensifolium v Tie Gu Su xin, supposed to be fragrant, white flowers, planted in chunky perlite.

Adam,

It is hard to tell the size of the flower in your second photo, but it does not appear to be a pure Cym. lowianum, even though it carries a pale red "V" on the lip. The porrect nature of the petals also says it is not a straight lowianum, in my opinion. The overall washed out color of the segments and the paleness of the lip "V", are not the preferred characteristics of the intense green color and dramatic burgundy (or yellow in the case of the alba form) "V" on the lips, generally valued by collectors of this species.

Thanks for the input CL; i'm just scratching my head as to what it might be. Time will tell I guess.

Adam,

As I know you are aware, so many crosses are made nowadays and never registered, or tags lost, or tags deliberately not put in many plants, that it is like "shooting in the dark" to correctly identify them. Best to enjoy it for what it is, unless the person from whom you bought it can give you full provenance as to its origin.
