Hi

Here are new pics of this clone in flower. I smells amazing - like freesias and some other perfume I can not identify. I got it from China, but was told it is a clone made in Taiwan.

I am selfing it now and I hope to get some seed. I wonder if there will be any varigated plants if I can flask seed.

Brett

Very nice. if it sets seed, you'll probably end up with some variegated plants. If I remember correctly, this type of variegation in cymbidiums does not clone, and can only be reproduced by seed. If you end up with extra seed, I'd like to try flasking it.

Hi Kip

Well, I guess it is a waiting game to see if pods set and hold, but so far there is swelling after pollination.

I also have a peloric Cym. ensifolium "Baodao Xiao Nu" with a pod on if (3 months now I think). This is the sellers pic. I cant find my pics, but it is the same other than the colour maybe not quite so vibrant.

The seller advertised both as clones, so I took them to be that. Well, whatever the case, it is worth a try to get some seed and see what happens. I will PM you if I have seed later

oops. looks like I was mistaken. the type that can't be cloned is the type with the white stripe down the middle of the leaf. The original study used Cym. goeringii and Cym. pusilum, but is believed to apply to other asian Cymbidiums as well. The original study (in Japanese, with an English summary) can be found here.

Thanks Everyone

I have pollenated all the flowers, so let hope. It seems to swell very fast. Fingers crossed.

Can anyone advise be of the pod duration times on Ensifolium and Sinense for dry seed?

Brett

I couldn't find information on ensifolium, but for most Cymbidiums it's around 8-9 months.

Here are some pics of the pods a month ago. They are a little fatter now, but a long way to go

Did you test these for Virus? This is important. If you have extra flasks I'd love one
