Ron,
As I suspect you are aware, after visiting your photo sites, it is best when taking close-up orchid photos of a single flower, especially for identification purposes, to take the shot looking square on at the flower making certain that the entire flower fills the frame. Lip, column and throat studies are always interesting but mostly of use in addition to a full flower photo.
I am learning to operate an Olympus digital so know what you are going through!
Good Luck with your new camera. I won't even try to make an ID on your flower.
