they have ensifolium and golden elf [the latter on sale on ebay].
I appreciate your advice. the description of the sinense is really what I am looking for.
I googled - it seems I may like the blooms of the ensifolium better [they look a little larger].
anyway
maybe these 2 / 3 days it is too cold here to have them shipped/

Cym. sinense is actually slightly larger than Cym. ensifolium but smaller, as is the plant as a whole, then the Golden Elf. If I were to have only one Cym., it would be sinense.

Yes, it is too cold to ship safely at this time of year and a reputable nursery will not do it until they feel it is safe.

I'm interested in getting one bulb of C. sinense (or a flask of it).
Can you list some reputable sources to contact?

Which of the 2 species mentioned here is more warm tolerant?

Thanks,

Rodrigo

Rodrigo,

I would never recommend getting only one bulb of sinense as they are very small and you run a risk of losing it. Two sources I would recommend are Andy's Orchids and Santa Barbara Orchid Estate, both in California. Both have quality plants and stand behind them. There may be some eastern nurseries but I have no experience with them. This is not a good time of year to ship and any good nursery will respect that. There may be some honest EBay orchid sellers out there in the form of reputable nurseries, but in my opinion, VERY FEW and definitely BUYER BEWARE!

When you ask about "warm tolerant" are you asking about suffering damage at lower temps or easily blooming at higher temps? They are actually two different things and easily confused.

Good Luck,

CL

I like sinense and it blooms in Florida. A sinense alba I bought last year set me back a pile of bucks. Hope it does well for me.

I have sinense var. alba 'Geyserland' and it blooms for me each year, alongside a red sinense form originally obtained fom Oak Hill. Both bloom annually and survive outdoor summer temps up to the 90's.

love the species...
Kevin
