Default My first Cymbidium... it's a big plant!

At the weekend I bought several orchids including my first ever Cymbidium.

This plant is huge with lots of big fat bulbs. They had several in the shop many of them a lot smaller, but I chose this one because it was the healthiest looking plant.

It's strongly fragrant, quite a plesant sweet smell. The one spike is fully open but there is a second spike of buds just starting to open.

I've posted this picture on another post, but it really shows the size of this 'chid sitting in my fire place.

Oh Rosie,

The whole room is just a delight. I could just sit there and look all day. Everything looks so nice in bloom. I keep all my chids on a lighted stand (shelves) in my living room so we see them all day...but what a beautiful setting you have there.

Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year to you and yours. Karen

It's a beauty, Rosie. Did it have an actual name in the pot (over here they tend to include nothing more descriptive than "yellow cymbidium" on the label)?

Steve

Thanks everyone & Happy Christmas!

Steve, no name... just 'cymbidium - 3 spikes'. It's the same arround here with no names or ocasionally just some sort of trade name.
