Panoramic view...lots of green - Orchid Board

Howard et al...here's a sort of cobbled together view of the South wall of the gh. There are about 40 pots in some stage of spike at this point in time...staking season has just begun; at this point in time individual spikes on plants are, for the most part, hard to distinguish...

Adam, those are beautiful plants--and that set-up looks like it could easily be considered a slug's idea of paradise if you're not careful. Do your plants stay in the greenhouse all year, or do you shuttle some of them outdoors during the one or two warm months that you guys experience in Michigan? Very nice collection of cymbidiums you have.

Good display Adam. Here's hoping the temps stay a bit more moderate and your propane bill is down a bit!

I treat regularly for slugs with a pelletized bait (and any that I come across I either squish or toss out into the snow...) All of my cymbids except for a couple of species and a couple madidum crosses go outside mid May and come back in mid October; eventually I think that I will probably look at building a shade house adjacent to my gh so I won't have to move them so far...

That would be good, though my LP contract this year is 80 cents a gallon lower than last year...hopefully oil prices remain low into the near future; less spent on heat=more orchids
