Looks like you discovered one of the secrets of good cym culture - they like sun! Great looking flower. I bet you can do it again.

Howard, you know what the secret is: cooler weather! Like we get up in cattle tracks. After all, Adam does so well with his. Why not send those to me and let me take care of them? Nice color on that red one by the way.

Ross, I thought you only did those tinsy tiny orchids...you know the ones that if you blink you miss them.... and anyway these guys are sprawling... you and the wife would have to move into Adam's GH!!! And, yes besides baking them this summer, if you could call it a summer, they stayed out there until the evening temps dropped to the mid 40's.

At present count I have 40 pots that are in spike (about 2/3 of my adult cymbids); but I grow super cool at night--43F--so my blooms are always a little delayed; I anticipate that the rest will start to throw spikes over the next month or two, as most of my dark colored cymbidiums will not bloom until late April or early May. I won't hijack your thread, but I will post a "panoramic" of what's in spike above.
