At any rate, thanks for the advice, and how are your plants doing this spring?
My plants are doing well, lots of new growths. I have kept the nitrogen in my fertilizer down this winter and It seems to have worked because I have had almost no fungal problems this year (touche wood )I will increase nitrogen as soon as the night temps reach 14 centigrade
I have some good stuff going to flower for the first time this year CAN't WAIT !!

Ok guys since all of you have more experience with cymbidiums that I do (don't have any yet) I would like to know what type; particularly species can I grow in the sunny South Florida. I like the flowers but get intimidated since I've always heard that they need cold. These might be the only orchids that can stay outside year round down here. So please HELP !!!!!

I don't know cymbidiums that well, either. I do know there is a "warm growing" cymbidium because I have seen them at a growers GH in Stuart. They look the same, obviously. You could also grow Nun's Cap (Phaius) outside. I have a large one that has never flowered for me in 3 years. If nothing happens this year it's going to my mother in Palm City... that will make her soooo happy... NOT!

I do not like Phaius !!!! Those are probably one of the few orchids that I'm not so fond of. Maybe ask me in a couple of years and my taste might have changed but me and Phaius don't see eye to eye yet

Spike time--a bit early... Male
Thumbs up

Hi, You won't get any spikes on your Cym. tigrinum until April. The trick is to keep them dry-ish and cool till spring!
Good Luck
Jeff

Harry, I find the 16 mm and the 25 mm conduit more suitable . Just made 300 of them for next year kept me busy on my band saw all day

Will try to get some made soon but dont have a band saw - thinking of how to do it and keep all the fingers. Have jig saw, table saw, cirulars saws, recip saw - think clamping to a bench and using jig saw would probably be the best bet -

Harry,Maybe easier to cut to length, heat up with a hot gun and cut with a scissors or utility knife. I will try one like that and see how it goes.Just had a op on my shoulder do I only have one hand pretty useless at anything right know
