Default Cymbidium Kiwi Magic 'Waikanae' X Desert Gold 'Geyserlant '

This beautiful cymbid has 6 spikes of flowers , it was entered as a std on our show last week week but only managed a second in its class . I think it should have been entered as an Intermediate as the flowers are under 80 mm in size.

Well I'm sad to see it only got second, because those flowers look great! How big is the whole plant, as it looks like quite plant. Better luck next time

It is in a 350 mm diameter pot. I might have to break it up this year as it is getting to be unmanageable . You want a piece ?

Its a great looking plant Des. I often wonder why judges (Ribbon judges) choose one plant over another.I think anyone would love to have a piece of it . It would probably grow and flower in Florida.

KH,

In a nutshell, ribbon judges look first for a balanced Cymbidium flower with color and rounded form weighing in equally. Although floriferousness is highly regarded by the public, it is not one of the most important characteristics to consider, unless the plant is entered in the specimen class.

Yes, on size and parentage, I would have entered this plant as an intermediate.
