Default Cym. Touchstone 'Janis' x Pepperpuss 'Dark Spirit'

Hello all, this is a first bloom seedling; I will post another when the spike is fully open. I purchased this as a "dug-up" seedling from Casa de las Orquideas in fall of '06. I like the heavy spotting on the lip; as an added bonus, the flower is a nice khaki/brick color.
Enjoy!
Adam

If you grew it from a dug up seedling to flowering in
3 years - we might like to know something about your culture practices. Congratulations!

The flowers are practically screaming, "Look at me! Look at me!"

That's a very nice cymbidium.

I grow dug-ups the same as my general collection, with the exception that I repot them more often. I fertilize year round, though I water much less in the winter months (dec-feb). Fertilizer routine is as follows:
Week 1: MSU Well Water Fertilizer & S.T.E.M.
Week 2: MSU Well Water Fertilizer & Dyna-Gro KLN
Week 3: MSU Well Water Fertilizer & Superthrive
Week 4: Straight Water
*I water daily May-October, about every 10 days the rest of the time, though sometimes less if it is very overcast. I also use Alaska Brand Fish Emulsion about every 3 days May-October.

As I mentioned, I repot dug-ups more often--about every 6 months. I start them off in NZ Sphagnum, and pot them on in the same media; following this I use a 50/50 blend of shredded CHC & Perlite, ultimately switching to straight CHC.

Hope this helps a bit,
Adam
