What are these huge bulb cymbidiums?

The critters I do not like ? Slugs ans snails? I'd like to put 20 of the bigger plants in the ground. and creat a barrier for the slugs,snails. Any suggestions?

Jim....while slug and snail bait may be one option, strangely a 2 inch wide strip of copper around a plants base will stop slugs and snails...something about an electrical field that they dont like...PS. have been to Costa rica 3 times in 5 years ..absolutely love it there...though I think I got whiplash staring up tree trunks for orchids
