Ok, taking the plunge and have ordered my first cyms ensifolium and sinense. From reading the basic care sheets and some posts here, looks like they may do best outside (I'm in Oregon) for the summer. Any other specific tips appreciated

Where are you at in Oregon? If you are near the coast, it may be that they will do well enough outside all the year. I grew both of these when I lived in Japan (outdoors), and continue to grow both of them here in Michigan (outdoors late spring-mid autumn; in the greenhouse the rest of the time); grow them under more shade than standard cymbidiums, keep evenly moist--some of my sinense are grown in sphagnum, some in a CHC blend--and in relatively deep narrow pots (google cymbidium pot), as they will put out rather long roots. I fertilize mine copiusly most of the year, though cut back on both water and food in the winter (mid Dec-mid Feb). All in all, they are pretty hardy easy to grow plants. Hopefully cymbidiumladye will chime in here as well, I believe that she grows both of these...

I'm in the valley so it does get well into the 90's and as cold as the 'teens so they will have to come inside in the winter.
