There are fungus and bacterial diseases that cymbidiums get from being closer than 18 inches from the ground especially in Florida. Wife plants cymbidiums in the ground - she planted the 500 I threw out this spring in the flower beds. Expect spotting of the leaves the decline.

Wow! I had forgotten all about this thread!

Update: those buds blasted! Never saw a bloom from it

I've since removed it from the ground and it's potted along with all the other Cyms. They're all growing but not much else
