Default First Cymbidium VIA LOCH REPOSO 'PIXIE GOLD'

I bought this orchid about a year ago, on sale as the flowers were mostly finished, and think it was a greenish color. I didn't really expect much, since the last cymb. I had, I killed. But yesterday, when I was watering it, I took a close look at the new growth, and what do you know, I got a flower spike... Wohoo!!! So now I'm curious about the spike process on these, right now it reminds me of a hyacinth flower as it first emerges, total length is maybe 4 inches. I'm assuming it will gain height as the flowers get closer to opening? I generally grow phal and similar easy to grow temperate varieties, so this is a new experience for me, and any info on the care of this would be appreciated.

I did have it outside on my front porch all summer (west facing, so late afternoon sunshine), and left it out until the first good frost, cause I knew it liked to get cold before it would flower again. Any thing else I should know?

Thanks in advance for the advice.
Melanie

There is a Cym Via Lock Pixie 'Repose' (Cymbidium Pixie Dawn x Cymbidium Loch Lomond) listed in the Orchid Wiz. If thats what it is its a stunner. Nice dark yellow with a rose blush on the petals and lip. Am sure you are growing it inside - try to keep the temp stable maybe 55 - 60 temp range and good airflow but not enough to dry it out. My cyms dont seem to like temp shock or quick changes.

I contacted the supplier Gallup and Stribling and was told this, Via Loch Reposo ‘Pixie Gold’ is a cymbidium orchid. Its parents are Via Reposo x Loch Lomond. It is a standard (large plant) with yellow flowers expected to bloom in the Spring.
how do these look?

No, they didn't say. I pretty much copied whole note except the salutation, and John's phone number there. John being the person that was kind enough to answer my question, I could probably ask if it is. Does it make a difference?

Hi,
Does not make a real differance - some crosses are never registered. The plant that I looked at (Cym Via Lock Pixie)is such a pretty Flower that I am interested. Would love to see a picture of what you have when it blooms. Looking at the species that go into it - it might grow in Florids. Can you tell how many buds the spike has on it yet.

I gave it a rough count at about 15, give or take a few I may have missed or double counted. I will definitely post picture when it flowers, just cause it will be my first time flowering one.

I seem to be experiencing bud blast, so far have lost 3 buds any ideas why? Temp hasn't changed still, sitting in the same location as before, temp is low 70's.
