WOW! What a beauty. I've got three of them here in Massachusetts growing in a sun room but never had one to produce like yours. What's your secret?

No secret, Donald. Just lots of sun over the summer. And what you don't know is that I have 5 others with no flower at all!!!!!!

Very beautiful! I love it! I only got one flower spike on my cymbidium this year. I think I wasn't giving it cool enough temps. Can I ask what temps you were giving yours before it started sending up spikes?

I just repotted it this past summer. It is a NOID. I have two others that were grown under the exact same conditions and only put up one or two spikes. Since I have limited room for lots of sun, they were out on the driveway in full sun all summer long and left out there this past fall for several weeks with night time temps as low as 45 to 50 F. Also restricted water and food. When the temps got down to lower 40's they were brought into the GH and began spikes late October.

Thanks for the info. Mine definitely didn't get temps that cold. I guess I should be lucky to have even gotten one spike! I will have to put mine out this summer and leave it out and try not to worry about it getting too cold.

Ethan, keep in mind that I also have 5 others that I originally purchased with spikes....so I know they should flower. They were all together this past summer and these 5 have absolutely nothing!

Certainly you cant keep them out in winter in Michigan - I do in Jacksonville Fla and it has been down to 28 a time or two inside a ceran enclosed shade house. I start a light mist at 33 -34 degrees and it keeps them from freezing . I have had plants with icycles on the flower spikes - that bloomed and were later shown.
