Default Cym. tigrinum culture

I have a little cym. tigrinum division just recently acquired and wondering how to take care of this species. I was told it can tolerate both cool and intermediate culture.

This cym can can will grow with any other cym. It doesn't need any special conditions. As a note, when it flowers which can be off very small plants, it may only have 1 or 2 flowers. The maximum flower count on the spike of the best plant will be 5.

Default Cymbidium tigrinum

Hi,
I have been growing tigrinum for many years and have written an article in the Cymbidium Society of America jornal on tigrinum. The species loves water in the the late spring thru early fall. After say November 1st only lightly spray it and keep it very cool. No fertilizer! If you don't you will rot the roots! Also, I have had up to 7 flowers on a spike and talking to Andy Easton he has ssen 10 flowers on a spike. We also awarded a Silver from the CSA to a plant this year. I will try and post pictures later when I get the chance.

I grow mine outside and it has been as cold as 36 degrees last winter. I always keep it dry during that time of year and with good light as well. I have a freind in San Francisco that has a plant that had over one hundred flowers on it last year. He grows it outside as well. The real trick is to keep it dry!!!!
