Cym Canaliculatum is one of the native orchids where I grew up in Australia. You find it growing with its roots running a couple of meters inside of rotting logs and tree hollows - nothing external. The climate is always arid and not a lot of rain. Cold winters and hot summers.

Thanks for all the helpful, informative information. I don't have that one but it looks like a beauty, and worth the extra pampering.

I dont know if this is of any use. Cym Canaliculatum grows where the winter is can get to -2 or 3 centigrade and summer at upper 30s to early 40c

I have a nice mature plant coming from Hawaii tomorrow! Simply could not resist!! They said plenty of filtered sun and they water once a week year round. So I am not sure what to do? Probably stay with the way they have been doing it all along. They are a truely beautiful orchid!!!Also said they like to be rootbound.

Thanks everyone....mine will definitely have a better chance of survival now. I'm sure it would have been by January. I just got mine in August, and was prepared to treat it like my other two cmys...it would not have made it.
