Default Cymbidium suavissimum `Keith Andrews'

I recently flowered what I call a Cymbidium enigma Cymbidium suavissimum `Keith Andrews' Hcc/Aos. I had received this plant more than a decade ago from Mark Pendleton when he was at The Orchid Zone. It grew but never flowered and the book The Genus Cymbidium seemed to hint that it was a natural hybrid and rarely collected (perhaps only once, I am using my memory, because I can't seem to find the book). Anyway I have included a photo for those who have never seen it and ask if anyone knows what it's current status is (Royalty or pauper).

Can't tell you Royalty or Pauper, but I can tell you it is very beautiful and very special as Cymbs go! Congrats on the flowering.

Default Cym suavissimum 'Keith Andrew'

Cym. suavissimum 'Keith Andrew' is still classified as a species. It is not an easy one to bloom yearly for many growers, however. But when it is happy and in an environment of its liking, it can make a lovely display. The flowers may not last more than about four weeks (some claim even less), but I have never found less to be true under my conditions. Paul Gripp has several large specimen-sized plants which bloom at his home in Santa Barbara and a pleasure to see.

Congratulations on your blooming.

Very nice display. Great to see, nice picture. When you have patience the rewards are a-plenty.
