My plant is also a monster. But, last year we had a really bad cold spell with temps around 30 degrees (brought plant into garage). After that the chid sent out 5 four foot flower spikes. This year, we had lots more cold again, I left plant on patio, but covered. I guess it was not happy. It has sent out 1 spike (about 4 feet) and it's starting another. I think the cold shocks it into blooming.
