It would grow on me, if I had one. It looks a little "cupped"....is it just opening or will it open more flat in time. Very nice indeed!

Don , it will still open a little , but the nights have been very cold here this year, with frost in the early morning so I have had to bring the plant inside before the frost gets it.

The plant is 37% insigne and more than 18% hookerianum - it would be worth a try here in my hot conditions. Where did it come from, Valley orchids in Australia I would guess? I agree, its a good looking Cym.
Is the spike habit upright?

Harry , yes I think It is a Valley Hybrid and the spike is upright ,although I use nie-co-rols on most of my cym spikes to pull them up. I bought this plant in Oz in 2006 as a yearling and it has flowered off its third bulb . so it has not done too badly in 30months

Des, Thats a good grower too - 30 mos is quick. Putting a pan of water under the pot really is working for you. I have a plant that was just puttering along and not growing well and I put it in a two inch pan of water under it and it sucks the pan dry every day even with rain and is growing like a weed. Each plant is differant though - not all of them use as much.
