OOOOPS! So sorry, I guess I was just looking at the responses and neglected to look who sent what. I'll just blame it on my old age or maybe I need new tri-focals?

Think the browning could have resulted because of the heat in transport or in the store. I noticed some brown looking flowers on the cymbidiums at our local sams.

I also think that leaving the plants in those plastic sleeves they are shipped in restricts airflow and could contributed to the browning epecially if they were left in the sun - even for a short period of time. Oh and Don- I wasnt asking for advice.

All the flowers turned black and fell off. I put it outside and hoping it does better. I think the move from Sam's to my house did it. It gets around the 40's at night and 70 to 80 during the day with only morning and late evening sun. When do you think it will bloom again, I have 2 new growths that are about 4 inches.

Believe it will probably bloom again next year. Grow it outside as much as you can - in your location bring it into the greenhouse when you expect a freeze.

That flower spike looks as though it has come to the end of its life . Usually you can tell when this is about to happen if the labellum (lip) starts to change color. When selecting plants make sure that all the lips are fresh looking and have not started to change color . The only other reason , that I know of , for the lip to change color is if the flower has been pollinated. This can happen quite easily if you bump the anther cap off transporting it home. This is something that often happens to me when transporting plants to a show .
Hope this helps
Regards Des
