Virus Free Orchid Seeds?
Default Virus Free Orchid Seeds?

Hi everyone,
Many years ago there were some comments posted here in relation to ORSV and dry seed.

I am wanting to dry seed a Cymbidium pod on an ORSV +ve plant and was wondering how long the virus lasts on dry seed or the seed capsule?
Or is there is any way we can treat the dry seed prior to flasking it in order to potentially germinate virus free seed?
Is anyone aware of a chemical that will kill the virus in this scenario but not kill the seed?!

Looking forward to comments and being educated on the subject! Thanks.

I suggest you contact Barrita Orchids in Kulnura, NSW. They breed Cymbidiums.

Thanks, I know Scott. I'm hoping to garner a range of responses here due to conflicting thoughts on the issue!
