Kind of cheated got plant while it had this sheath. Then it spiked. Was supposed to have a fragrance bur I can't smell anything. I like the simplicity of the bloom.

I would expect it to be fragrant - put it outside in filtered sun, it is more likely to be fragrant when it is warm.

I believe it’s a lemony scent.

You may have read that it is a “warmth tolerant” cymbidium, b ht I found it grew better “warmthpreferred”.

"Warmth tolerant" for Cyms is more like "hot muggy nights" tolerant to bloom - doesn't need a cool-down to bloom. But Golden Elf is as cold-tolerant as the standard ones. Down to freezing is OK. Heat is no problem (if protected from direct sun, barely) So it should live outdoors until frost is expected.

If I ever get a "warmth tolerant" Cym. to bloom you will all collectively be the first to know.

Hence my search for Grammatocymbidiums which do great for me.

It's going to be in the 100s here during the day. Greenhouse will be 115ish so that's out of the question even with a shade cloth and fans going. May wait till next week to put it outside but I did not want to chance the buds to blast from the heat, so that's why I kept it in the house most the summer. I agree nights with 80+ percent humidity they would love it. but 100 deg and 40 percent humidity during the day, hhmmm, Im afraid to chance it with any of my orchids. although I bet in a few years from now they will spend all summer outside.

If it has been in the house, it certainly needs to stay there now. Next year, or in the fall this year, when weather is milder, you can move it outside, and leave it outside unless there is a danger of more than a degree or two of frost. It will acclimate. Then, by next summer, it will be "tough", all it will need is some shading from direct noonday sun. 115 deg is a bit stiff, but 100-105 is well within range for an acclimated Cymbidium.

But if it's blooming for you, keep on doing what you're doing. You may still get some fragrance as flowers mature for a few days. And it's also possible that all cultivars aren't equally fragrant. I have Cym. Golden Elf 'Sundust' which smells to me like baby powder.
