If the pot is too big (a photo would help) it will stay too wet. Especially for the small Cyms, look for tall-form Cymbidium pots - Amazon has these

- Cymbidium Pots - Plastic (with Side Holes) # has them in their catalog but they are out of stock... but this is what you want to look for . They have the length to accommodate the long Cym roots, but are narrow so that you don't end up with a wet, airless environment that will kill roots. You need "long and narrow" ... if you can't find the actual pots, you can use other things, like plastic bottles or drink cups, just punch holes.
