Cym vendors in USA
Hi I’m looking for some suggestions for online vendors of mini cymbidiums
I live in Massachusetts and during cold months grow in my house so I want to try growing a smaller cymbidium
Thanks
Judith

Welcome to the Orchid Board!
The Cym growers will be by shortly to help you, but there aren't many smaller Cyms. In the mean time you can go to the Vendor Feedback forum, accessible from Forums on the left yellow menu, then use the Search function to search in that forum on keyword Cymbidium.

Santa Barbara Orchid Estate may have some mini-Cyms. Also, check out Fair Orchids ( Fairorchids is a frequent contributor to the Board) and has been breeding some smaller (if not mini) Cyms that grow well under home and greenhouse conditions not needing the fall cool-down, you could PM him to find out what might be available.

Welcome to the board
You might also try New World Orchids, they often stock varieties of Cym. ensifolium & Cym. sinense, both of which are very easy to bloom under lights in a home environment, definitely fit in the miniature category and are fragrant to boot
Also, Natt's Orchids, which usually carries a smattering of Cymbidiums that are miniatures--typically hybrids made with Cym. Golden Elf as one of the parents.

SBOE is the go-to but Fair Orchids (Kim Feddersen) who is a member of this forum also usually carries nice Cyms.

Folks:
I have several ultra-mini-cym hybrids from SBOE. They are very reliable, and cute as can be. I've checked their website lately, and they seem to have very low stock of the minis, as well as other species and hybrids. Disappointing because I had my list list made and it looks like my choices are not in stock.. (boo hoo)
Does anyone know (Roberta?) if they are re-stocking, downsizing, or what is the story? Thanks very much for any information.
Maryanne (also in Massachusetts)

I don't know about situation at SBOE. I suggest giving them a call and asking. COVID has cut seriously into everybody's sales and growers are trying to match their stock to the (diminished) demand. Most of their stock is of their own breeding (not things that they get from someplace else) , so they may also be moving in a different direction. And websites may or may not get updated to reflect what people actually have. So do make direct contact and ask.

Gold Coast Cymbidium Society in Northern California had their annual show and sale yesterday. 400+ plants from the members were sold out in 1 1/2 hours! Prices ranged from $25 to $250+, most averaging $50+. 95% cyms both in bloom and out of bloom. It was absolute bedlam!
I am not sure how this answers your question of on-line sellers except to emhasize the best place to get plants is at a show or through direct contact with the growers. The demand for Cyms of all sizes is phenomenal this season, perhaps because there are so few out there and the weather has caused a late season in the major growing states.

I've vounteered at 2 plant sales so far this year, last weekend and this. People are in the buying mood after 2 years without meetings nor shows.
