so i am the least experienced with cyms on here

i have 12 and the longest one since 4-2020

in that limited time i have had to repot these plants more than any other 50 orchids i have.

i tried to go with the conventional tall slim pots and vermiculite and they out grew them in 2 month. i went to 1 gallon nursery pots while i made a new plan and they split the sides of those while i was waiting for the new pots to arrive. I then went to 3 gallon nursery pots and that bought me a year, almost. Golden elf split her pot completely and this plant was starting to rise out of the pot.

I usually agree that any repotting will set a plant back and totally am sure that cyms are like that but it seems that all i DO is repot these plants lol

my goal is to see which are spikey and which are pendulous and then get all the spikey ones into these 7 gallon heavy duty pots....they will last at least 2 years hahaha

of course, being me, i have a few experiments going also (cym alifolium chunk tied to a palm) and i am trying to make these basically landscape plants.....at $6 a pot, i can divide and double these until my whole neighborhood is cyms!!!!

Definitely looks like fusarium to me. Better burn it.

Meanwhile, could you just plunk them in the ground in amended soil because of where you live? Would solve the pot breaking issue.

that is one of the things i was considering, WW

we have some nasty nematodes here that attack roses and gardenia so i would want to make sure i had safe mother plants before i try anything in the soil (lol, its sand)

i was also thinking about trying like a raised bed/ potato box type thing to act like a wooden pot? for now i just have to destroy this rotten and virused plant LOL

OooohYeah! A raised bed. I love that idea! Use some of that tree you collected to make a raised bed, line with a couple layers landscape fabric, and fill with medium of choice! That would be stinkin' sweet!
