I live in Toronto Canada and C. goeringii blooms for me ever year, no problem. I grow them outdoor from early May to Halloween/early Nov. From early Nov to end of April, they are growing in the goeringii room in the basement underlight. You want to grow them outdoor as much as possible. it is hard to grow them because they have 4 different cultural conditions according to the season:
Light requirements:
They don't need much sunlight (morning sun only and don't pass 11:30am) especially from mid June to mid Sept. I change the amount of sunlight througout the year. When grown underlight, 12 hour light cycle.
Temperature: It is not a cool growing species, it is a hot to cold growing species.
Spring and fall: intermediate temp range 10C-20C
Summer: warm to hot temp range: 25C-30C
winter: cold range, 0C-10C
Winter must have this temp to do vernalization. If you don't stay in this temp range in the winter at all times, the buds will blast.
Watering: watering interval changes according to the season, from every 6 days to ever 14 days depedning on the month/season. C. goerngii is a seasonal orchid.
humidity; 50%-70% at all times, they hate low humidity.
