Default Tall pots in Semi Hydro

I know cymbidiums are grown in tall pots, BUT, is that still necessary in a semi-hydro/reservoir set-up? Asking for a friend. 😉

In my experience, cymbidiums tend to grow their thick roots significantly downward. When putting any plant into S/H culture, it is important to not plant it with its roots submerged in the reservoir - they will grow into it, but that's OK.

The height of the reservoir decreases the depth of the medium above it, but fortunately, it is safe to go with a larger overall pot size to compensate for that.

Thanks Ray! Shopping for a tall glass container (for my friend, of course.)

I favor plastic over glass.

Easier to drill
Harder to break
Does not have to be transparent
