I think it is gravel and cement cast. It does not hold any water. Like a sieve

I HOPE it is impressive! I am just trying to stay out of the orchids way!

okay- i finally got my plan, materials and time all to line up.....here is what i did

this is a bunch of broken roof tile (did not use), a bucket of old staghorn plates (amazing substrate for mounts and baskets) and coconuts torn up, a bag of lava rock, a bunch of LECA i dont like for SH and a little mixed media

tools are a pair of twist pliers and a pair of tip snips

it was in a net pot (still is) and on a standard hanger so i cut that at the top and crossed the four wire over the plant and over the edge of the bowl- i later added a thick wire ring below the lip to anchor these wires down

i had a pic of the first layer which was leca, then coir and husk and then lave but it was out of focus....after that i reduced the coir and upped the lava to the final fill

I think my only comment is that the newest growth is kind of close the edge of the pot. Would it be better to have the back of the plant against one side of the pot or the other?

I doused her with 2 gallons of super juice (Klite/inococur/kelpmax) and I am super pleased with the way it’s turning out

Steve, it is deceiving...the biggest growth is to the edge but the two newer growths are actually coming off that one back to the middle

I thought about that and made this call but I could be wrong bc of the clear trend she has done up to now.

this is the plant and you can see the TREND is clearly from left to right in this picture, HOWEVER.....

so....i am thinking that i did right and the colony will move back to the middle of the pot which is also where the light will be coming from.......

As soon as it's happy it will start making growths all the way around. I think it'll outgrow that pot rapidly.
