I don't know which Cymbidium is yours (if you have a tag with a name, please post it) but a constanat temp in that range might prevent it from blooming.

i know, but my main concern right now is to save the plant. once that is done, I'll make things more suitable for her to bloom.

Look up photos of springtails. They feed on dead plant material and don't cause harm to living plants.
