Grammatophyllum scriptum at Home Depot
This is a friend's photo. He was at Home Depot and saw these. He sent me a photo of the label, too. The grower isn't shown, nor the clone. It's probably 'Hihimanu.' I've never seen orchids at HD here other than Phals, and my friend also realized it was something he'd never seen. They're $30.

They are obviously from HI, probably from Newman or Kalapana. I get wholesale pricing from both, so I know what HD cost is.
Normally the Hawaiian nurseries sell to smaller nurseries on the mainland. Since there are no shows, and very few society meetings at the moment, and the plants are spiking now, they must be offering them to the box stores.
However, HD selling them at $30 retail is absurd.

My friend gardens a lot but only outdoors. I told him it wouldn't grow outside here. I have two of these cast off by society members. I don't like the species that much without the spots.

I have been asking/ begging her for a piece for years.
I grow scriptum on the ground in mulch as a terrestrial

Well before I read the 6' part, I was going to ask for a piece, ES.

Scriptum and speciosum are different, Dolly
Gram speciosum is the largest orchid in the world and it is HUGE

DC, you are growing outside in FL. I'm growing on three racks in a 12 x 12' sunroom under lights. Even the smaller is huge.
Nonetheless, I'm slightly envious.

I was just clarifying that my 6’ comment was about the other species.
I get the space constraints. I would be so much more discerning and I would agonize about each plant. Too much pressure for me

All I ever see at Lowe's and Home Depot are Phals. There's a Kroger near me that is in kind of a ritzy part of town, and sometimes they have other things like phal dendrobiums, and oncidium intergenerics and miltoniopsis. I used to see Nobile type dendrobiums at Lowe's all the time, but apparently Yamamoto closed their Hawaiian production facility in Hawaii and they no longer export plants to the USA, so I don't even see those anymore. It all Phals now. All Phals, all day. Sometimes I buy one to keep on my desk at school if I don't have an appropriate sized plant that is in bloom at home, because I like to always have a plant on my desk. But I rarely buy any more phals. My god, I've got enough hahahahaha
