Cym. golden elf 'sundust'
last spiked July of 2020 BUT i had only had her for 3 months from CA so they likely had some of the spike grow or at least trigger in CA.

also, cyms are big beautiful plants!

Wow, those warm-growing Cyms LOVE south Florida... I won't see flowers from Golden Elf until late July, maybe a second bloom in October. You'll probably get multiple sets of spikes from it, having more warmth for longer. My Kuranda has little teensy buds, will probably bloom some time around mid to late May, maybe June. I can just see those Cyms on Miami Beach, maybe wearing shades, with cool drink in hand (leaf?) saying "This is the life!"

Finally got around to reading this thread. While I was never a fan of Golden Elf in itself, I get what it does for growers living in warmer climates.
I bought a bunch (100+) Cymbidium plugs in November 2017. One plant bloomed in Jan 2019, and the majority budded in 2020. Many of them had spikes already 4-6" long by the end of September (towards the end of the outdoor season in NJ).
These plants bloomed in Nov-Dec, with a few spikes opening as late as January. I just discovered that one of those early bloomers is in spike again (produced in the greenhouse). That, and this thread, got me to check the linage - and I found Golden Elf as a great grand parent.
I have seen Cym. Donovan bloom with 25-30 flowers on each spike. This positive trait has largely carried over, as most of the (Yai x Donovan) plants produced 14-19 flowers on each spike.

very cool!! or should i say HOT?!
when are you going to be producing these magical, warm-tolerant, multi-bloom plants for sale???

At the moment I am dividing them when I can. If the good one (lower photo) earns an AOS award, I will consider doing a meristem run.
