While on the topic of hot and cold (cyms) ..... the katy perry song is fitting here.

My one and only Cymbidium is outdoors, luxuriating in the 90+ F heat and full Georgia sun. There are many new growths, just like last year, when I did the same thing

Howdy Orchid Chikk! and major thanks....i take little credit

i got these very recently, maybe late april since they were divided from large mother plants by my Fairy Orchid God Mother ()

this is the first bloom for me (three spikes at this point) and i am just hopefully watching them develop.

one odd thing is that this year the weather has been quite odd. hotter than normal and the rain has been weird too ( it is usually a shower at 3pm you can set your watch to) but the last few years it has changed.
this year was by far the strangest i can remember

It's a Happy orchid
You're doing something right . .
Lucky you

Ahh lovely I'm sure ..
I like watching the process,
I've learnt a little bit from it myself,
The flowering process . .

I hear you & get what you mean fully.
Even here in Aussie Land,
Not just Orchids,
But even my other plants are doing Strange things
I got some little pansy's etc etc back in January,
Our Summer,
And they are still BOOMING
What the heck

I'm guessing, you Know the colour of these,
That they will flower ?

And they say climate change is a hoax. I remember when I was a kid, we had a swimming pool. My birthday is on September 23, and I always wanted to have a pool party for my birthday, but it was always too cold. One year I finally got to have a pool party, but it was like 70 degrees, so we spent most of the time sitting by the pool wrapped in towels shivering. That was back in the early 90s. Now, in Oklahoma, it is more common than not for the temperatures to get up into the low 90s almost every day in September. We never had a 90 degree day in September in the early 90s. Never. And now, that's what you expect in September. It's going to be upwards of 90 degrees almost every day. It won't start cooling off until almost Halloween.

How interesting JS

I don't believe it's a hoax, Not now any way

I just need to Learn, What your Temps are,
To what ours are here at 8 C for example ..
So I have a better understand.
I can tell with the 70 degrees, to now 90 degrees,
Some what different ..

i don't want to derail but since the thread is about HOT cyms it is apropos....

i used to have to wear long sleeves for my Halloween costumes in the 90s! now, it might not require a sweat shirt for an entire year some times.

this year it did not rain from new years until april

we all will need heat tolerant CYMS in a few years at this rate ….
