Doing well to rebloom these. Cym growers in my local club have reported that cym growers in the tropics have difficulties in blooming them as they dont get the chill factor they like.

Hi Diane! Thanks for your post! I agree with your local club members. I have seen no orchid nurseries up this way sell the temperate-climate cymbidium orchids, and have never seen or heard of locals display or even mention that they grow that sort up here.

I will follow the 'believe until we see' approach ----- as I have read about conditions need to be suitable for the spike to continue development through to the stage where the buds get big enough. It could explain the reason for nobody really mentions anything or shows anything related to temperature climate cyms up here! Will provide updates every once in a while here. Thanks again Diane!

There is work being done on WT cyms, so its probably only a matter of time before more become available.

Absolutely! Previously, I was assuming that the WT cyms have a fairly different appearance (in general) when compared with the temperate-climate cyms ---- as in WT cyms having lower profile (thinner) petals.

But looks like that's not the case. Interestingly there is a Cym. Vanessa Amorosi, that I just came across a moment ago in a google search for warm/warm/heat tolerant cyms.

That pretty much looks like a regular temperate climate cym!

The spikes ----- one spike on each plant (different pots) are doing well. Holding up nicely! Naturally formed in tropical North Queensland. Fingers crossed that they'll keep progressing to flowering stage.
