Here is one I found on my local supplier's website:

Paph Genevieve Booth (Mount Toro 'Green Valley' x rothschildianum 'Green Valley' SU/JPS)
Mount Toro is never a disappointment in bloom. These should be a darker version. Up to five flowers per stem. Near blooming size plants. 8" - 12". $30.

I can't post the pictures, but if it sounds good you can see it at: Orchidaceae, Inc.
I think it will be a keeper

I agree that a slower grower may not be a good idea ..

Paramount(Canada) has Leptotes unicolor -
and M&M and orchideepassion in EU

Hi Jordan -
We usually don't chose hybrids as we have participants that need to buy their orchid outside the USA .. Species are much easier to obtain internationally ..
You can look to see if the paph can be obtained in Canada and Europe by going through the vendors in the last 2 posts of this thread - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...lant-list.html

Oh, sorry. I didn't think about that... What would a prime candidate for this project be? I'm not very good at picking orchids, so I'll leave it to the professionals!

Ok the requirements are .. species orchid, Temperature range is cool-warm or hot-cold or intermediate as per Jay's Encyclopedia - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...estions-8.html
In other words, go to this link's screen, scroll down and in the blank area type in your orchid (species only) and you will get a description of it .. see what the growing temp is if it is cool-warm or hot-cold or intermediate, then it's good - ok then find it available in the USA, Canada and Europe with the links I told you in the last post .. if all 4 things are found .. then it can be a candidate for the list

Hi Ely

That is a really nice Paph but D explained about hybrids verses species for the project.

One thing I thought I should mention again because it was only brought up quite a while back:

for this project, we are trying to avoid choosing any genus that has been used in our previous projects, so we are trying not to choose any of the following types of orchids:

Phal lobbii
Angraecum scottianum
Paph venustum
Aerangis rhososticta
and
Laelia reginae

This isn't to say that if somebody suggests a really great Phal (or any of the others), we wouldn't at least think about it
