Nobody will believe this, but I just hadda do an IXquick search on this word!

I now know the reference! I am prolly the only human on the planet who never "got" Steinfeld. Tried it a coupla times, it just never resonated.

But now, at least I know what a Mansierre is! Not a registered named orchid hybrid.

Very impressive that show might have been as popular Down Under as it was here! I am learning every nano!!!!

Default The Growing Conditions Poll

This is a really entertaining and humorous thread. But it got me to thinking about my growing conditions.

Right now and for the rest of the season, all of my orchids are outside. It has been raining here on a more or less regular weekly basis, so I have only had to water my plants when a day passes without rain. Plus it has been cooler overnight, so I have to water very early in the day. Me and my plants really look forward to the warm and sunny days of Summer.

With the advent of Fall and soon to follow Winter, my plants come back inside. I am cognizant of each of my plants' cultural requirements--particularly light and warmth. My plants were chosen so that they can live in my house without augmentation such as lights but I do run an oscillating fan and a humidifier. These two items have made a difference in keeping my plants healthy during the winter time.

With regard to Seinfeld, I think this show influenced a lot of American idioms. Before Seinfeld, Americans used to say, et cetera et cetera--to indicate the rest of what was to be said as an obvious conclusion. We also used "blah blah blah blah blah" Seinfeld added "yada yada yadah". My favorite Seinfeld-ism is "Serenity Now!" Which I often utter under breath when faced with a potentially irritating interaction with an irritating and exasperating colleague.

Well! The foundational purpose of the thread/poll is just that: to learn the reality of the growing conditions of all our members! Again, normal, interim segues into jocular don''t compromise that nucleus.

Again, I envy you your options! But, what moves and impresses me most---I also relate---is your acute focus on your plants as INDIVIDUALS....along with feeling clearly you have humility in honoring their journey, not simply as pawns in YOUR agenda!

I find this thrilling, and would, humans regarded each other in the same way, given my take, is that is posed to be part of our engineering.

Excellent comments! Again, I know full well, that I never got it, or Jerry's Steinfeld's humor altogether....or even that of Larry David....puts me in a miniscule minority.

You also raise a fascinating issue: the extent to which what is portrayed in film and on TV morphs what we feel entitled to.....can metamorphose sociocultural paradigms.

[I finally figured out how to multiquote here, but, OMG it's the most unwieldy thing evah; the code is entirely different from that on my uber tech site.]

Hand to heaven...I was wondering where you were in this!!!

Again, I envy you all those options!!!! But I....ADAPT. You could have chosen all of them! I made sure to include that option.

I am hoping everyone here will weigh in....cause I want percentages that represent all of us!

I live in Florida so most of my green pets can live outside most of the time. I have a few living under the shade of a Ligustrum tree....some under a Camphor tree....some under a grouping of palms. Most however, are in a shade house where they do very well and thrive in the humidity. I do have irrigation and electricity in there though....and just recently explanded it with an adjoining covered patio area....which for all practical purposes, is just more shade house!
