I have a Cattleya maxima (highland variety) that grows super quick.

Scaphosepalum rapax and Dracula lotax seem to grow at an astonishing speed as well.

Finally, I had a Gongora leuchochila that seemed to double in size every year.

I would never think that those were orchid weeds. Especially Draculas. Where do you grow your plants?

The maxima I have inside under lights, the Scaph and Dracula lotax (a mini for this group) is in my orchidarium and the Gongora I had growing outside when I lived in Hawaii. Big plant so I had to get rid of it when I moved to Texas!

Speaking of weeds, I just acquired a monster Onc. sphacelatum. It was grown for 20-30 yrs. by a local gentleman whose son was vacating the estate. It was hanging from a chain. I had to back my pickup truck underneath it a wench it onto the truck via a chain hoist. It was wider than my pickup! Today I measured the circumference and it is 24 ft. The average calculated diameter is 7.6 ft. It's the biggest weed I have.....my back is hating it right now!
