I am like miscellaneous and other genera. I get ribbons in misc class and dont get any from nothing else bec everyone else likes paphs dendrobiums and cattleyas and have more money and have spent more time to buy better plants than me. So I started to like what I could get some attention for. Misc and others I have owned for 2 years and Im going to make it 3 this year .
No AOS awards for Misc. though. They dont seem to like the fact that a masdys caudex reflex bec they dont see enough of them. Just got to push more of them in their way.

Ugh this is a toughie! I suppose my favorite is the cattleya alliance. They were the first orchids that I didn't kill!! Also it was the first alliance I ever rebloomed on my own. You can beat the flower size and the fragrance combo. I must say though my heart could be stolen by Phalaenopsis too.

This is a tough choice. If I had to choose the one I like best that would be Catts because they are so big and floofy and showy (don't tell my other orchids that I said that ). However, they do not seem to like me enough to bloom, but I think I know the problem and intend to rectify it. If I had to choose which like me best it would be a toss up between Phals and Paphs, since I have gotten both to rebloom for me.

One of my favorite orchids is the burr. Nelly Isler as it is often in bloom, smells nice, and has bright red flowers. Angraecums are a private obsession. I love seeing them at shows, in pictures, in greenhouses, and in my home. I love the leaves (and, with some, the silly roots) as well as the flowers. I barely notice the other orchids if an ang is present. Then there are the vandas, including, now, the falcata! Who can pass up a neo? However, I have more cattleya alliance plants than any other. So, I guess I haven't quite figured out which group I like best of all. There are so many wonderful orchids and each have something to recommend them. Maybe someday, I will have a favorite but, for now, I can't make a decision.

I made this same pole in 2009 and it seems to be about the same.

If you want to compare this pole to the 2009 pole

Hard to pick, but I went with dendrobiums for the wide variety.

I like so many varieties. So my favorite for today is the one that is spiking for the first time for me. It's an Aerangis mistacidii. So I voted For Vanda/Aer. In the fall, it will be Catts. No loyalty here.

My favorite is the vanda alliance...they are challenging, beautiful and so interesting to look at even when they're not in bloom with their roots hanging from their basket/pot. I love when people who see my vandas for the first time ask, wait for it....

Where's the dang "ALL of them" button? My favorite of all are the Standard Cymbidiums...you know....the ones you CANT grow in Florida!
To say any one is my favorite would be a lie. Today for instance, I love my Bulb Medusae. Two days ago, I gazed in awe at my Oncidiums. A week ago, I was mesmerized by the Catts.
I too have more Catts than probably anything else so I'll go with that! I LOVE the fragrance when you walk in the room....I love their bold "I'm all that there is" attitude and they are fairly simple to grow and bloom.
I really like paphs too though. How many times can I change my mind?
