Artistic interpretation?
I take it that the idea is to include photos that are as realistic as possible with no filters or creative effects applied? Just curious in case I find something I want to submit.
Are there rules about what edits/manipulations are and aren't allowed?
Thanks!

They've always been posted in the thread in past years. While the voting thread doesn't usually show names there has been no attempt in the past to actually make them anonymous.

I think the idea is that they are natural. Correcting exposure or white balance on the PC I'm sure is fine. But I'm sure blatant manipulation is not the idea of this contest and may get disqualified. It's for Marty to say for sure though.

We could use more quality images...I've extended the deadline...as honestly I won't be doing anything in the next few days calendar related, so we might as well get few more photos submitted

Why not put a banner up like has been done in the past? That way people get reminded to submit their photo each time they visit OB.

I noticed all the winning photos in the calendar are all in black background....I take my photos outdoors with the sky as background or bark of a tree or a brick wall....
I dont know how to photograph in a studio setting with lights and black cloth....
Does my pictures stand a chance even if I am not a photographer? Most of my nice photos are from iPhone.

Nothing says it has to be a black background. There's been plenty of pics in past years that had a natural background. The trick is for it to not take focus away from the flowers. I don't like taking outdoor photos (too much wind most of the time) and personally find the black backdrop to be the easiest way to get a good pic (No I don't have a studio, or lights. I set up next to the window, and use aluminum covered cardboard to reflect light.)

Seems like this year's calendar thread was much less active than in past years...
