I guess I'm one of the oddballs that doesn't check on the orchids everyday. While I do water the mounts daily, I just plunk them in water then hang them out to dry without really looking at them much. I ticked the box 3-4 times a week, but it's really more like 2-3 times a week. I just make sure they're watered and keep an eye for obvious problems, which is not hard to do considering that the orchids share a single room with me. I'm really busy with other things so some days I hardly give the plants a passing glance.

I voted for once a day but when I am home it is often twice which offsets the days I am not at home I guess. Sometimes I just stand and gaze at them waiting for something to happen. My hubby just commented on how much time I spend in the greenhouse I guess it shows!
In winter when it is duller out there and things are slow, I don't go every day.
Glad to see I am not the only one who orchid gazes

I check the few I that have multiple times a day then browse different orchid sites runs back checks orchids, makes a pot of coffee again checks orchids.
I think the reason I check on them this much is cause these orchids are new less then a month I've had them and I want to make sure that there are no nasty critters or anything going wrong with them.
Better to be safer than sorry later on.

WOW!! This is Crazy!!! Im glad im not the only one who cant seem to stop Staring at them!!!! if the orchid is new i stare at it like its going to grow or do something and i might miss it!!!!
I grow outside as soon as it gets above 50 degrees at night consistently! Its been a really rainy season so i haven't had to do alot with them really. I have huge deck doors so the table is 5 feet from the door so on the summer days the fragrances from them blows into the house! Ahhhh thats the life!!!!!!
I go outside alot though even if it is raining! once it was like 5 times in an hour!!! on repot days im out side for a hour or so. When they are blooming I can't help myself! My sister says "I think you have a sickness!!!!"
When winter comes and it's time to bring them inside Forget it!!!! they come to the light set up in my and room its game over!! It's Ridiculous
But its been productive, when a bug appears i notice it instantly and it is killed before it has time to multiply!!!

I have to admit, it really depends. Usually a few times per week. But if something is going on with one such as a spike on a first bloomer then sometimes multiple times a day.

geez, You could probably call me bipolar as far as orchid behavior disorder is concerned. I do check up on them as often as I can but somehow it increases in frequency near the time of a show or AOS judging.now and then they come up and bloom just in time for the meeting . what really makes me mad is they're aways just a bit too early or late for these ugh! I have to pep talk the team sometimes! well, I do get my other madness I can't tell you how many deities don't control orchids I've tried them all! I also feel like kicking them to get them going too, well, you can't say other people don't do it with their orchids. Maybe I should give them a break, I just moved to my new place with my mom in August, I guess I'm too much of an orchid basket case for my own good.
