How long have YOU been growing orchids?

You left out 2-3 years, which is how long I've been growing. 2 years, 1 month and 1 week to be precise.

Well, to prevent the list from being over exhaustive, I had to think hard of where to make the cuts. I realize that I have some that leave gaps. I was doing this at school while I should have been doing work!

People are always suprised about the amount of knowledge I have untill I explain I started at 10 years old (following my parents) that gives me a little over 25 years of experience in orchids.

I've only really be growing properly for a few years, although I did have an orchid for about 9 months over 14 years ago until it was literally lost; there was then an orchid-free hiatus for over a decade!

I got my first orchid 5 and a half years ago, but the orchid addiction didn't really take off until about 3 years ago. Until that point I had 2 orchids which were simply part of my plant addiction. Then I got a little Onc back bulb from a friend and came here in search of help. I got hooked.

I started growing orchids in the late 70's when the average person could only get Phals and some catts. While it sometimes has been frustrating, on the whole it's been very rewarding to see these beauties come to bloom under my care.

I was given my first in April 2006, but the addiction started arround spring 2008.

I first realised that my first was doing well, amazed when it rebloomed (I thought they only did that with really specialist in a greenhouse) so got a couple more. Then tried repotting that first and almost killed it with bad medium so came here looking for help... and that's when it started. I realised the whole world of orchids beyond my imagination and I was hooked
