Photo contest-Jan '11 - Chat Thread
We didn't have a chat thread for this month's contest and maybe that would help keep reminding people about it. Also I need to ask a question... so I thought I would start one at this late stage.
So... if you've not seen it, Bob has launched January's Beginners and Intermediate/Advanced photo contest. Give it a go and enter... i'm going to this month once I've chosen a picture.

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-advanced.html
So... my question for the organisers (or anyone who knows the answer). Is it right that I should enter 3 photos? If I do should it be one thread with 3 or 3 threads with one each. There seems confusion on this so far.

thanks rosie, i just realized i forgot :P yes, you can enter up to three. you should put them all in one post, if you can. others made three different posts, but it doesnt really matter.
im entering one now, and i will enter more later this week.
THERE IS 1 WEEK LEFT TO ENTER THE PHOTO CONTESTS. PLEASE ENTER!! AT THIS RATE, WE MIGHT HAVE TO COMBINE THE CATEGORIES. BUT I TRUST THAT EVERYONE WILL ENTER, SO WE DONT HAVE TO COMBINE! GET YOUR ENTRIES IN ASAP!

Me too, going to enter pics, I spent the weekend trying to decide which one(s).
Rosie, don't you mean posts instead of threads?

I noticed that some people can post their photos so that they are larger in the post than I can. How is that done?
I hope I know more about photography than computers!

Connie, I think the larger ones are not attachements on OB.
Those ones are links to outside websites where the picture is stored. When you do it that way you choose the size of the picture on the website it's coming from. When I use Picasa there are options for 144pixles, 288pixles, 400pixles and 800pixles for the links you post to other sites.

No, I think that there are 2 different things. The large pics linked to an outside website (flickr, webshots...) lead to that site when clicked on. But if you look at Bob's photo in the interm/advanced thread, his can't be clicked, and says above "This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 800x528". That's what I'd like to know how to do, it would save time by not having to upload to the photo website first.

i upload mine to picasaweb. and then i embed it over.
rosie told one time how to add a link to the picture, but i forgot how, so i just make the picture as big as possible.
some of them have a bar to click to get the larger picture, thats because [ i think ] OB resized them because they were too big.
but my last one with the neo. doesnt have a bar, thats because it was small enough at full size for OB not to resize it.
rosie-i found a way to just get the link from picasa!! sooo much easier
