#1 - Dendrophylax lindenii
composition good, a bit overexposed, could stand some cropping on the right or a slightly different perspective to remove the distracting lines of the trees
#2 - Encyclia tampensis
slightly over-exposed, composition good, could stand to have the contrast strengthened, and focus is a bit soft
#3 - Brassavola David Sander
pretty flower but background really distracting, a darker background and a background that was large enough to eliminate the stuff on the edges would be better and the temp. gauge should have been removed
#4 - Cypripedium kentuckiense
a bit overexposed and a perspective more on a level with the flowers would have been better - one judge thought the background distracting on this one

#5 - Laelia gouldiana
color, background and exposure good, composition less good - should have tilted the camera to frame the flower more squarely - one judge like the composition on this
#6 - Paphiopedilum henryanum
very nicely composed, great color and contrast with background, but background should have reached to the bottom of the picture, plant tag should have been removed and (if possible, the pot eliminated from the picture (different angle or another piece of the background material to hide the pot, though it is not the worst) - flower fades into the green a bit
#7 - Cattleya xgransabanensis
Would have been nice if the tag and stake could have been removed and the center of the photo moved slightly to the upper left (flowers are falling out of the photo to the lower right -
exposure, focus and color are very good, lighting a bit harsh
#8 - Cattleya jenmanii
very creative photo and light very good, though some of the items in the background would have been better eliminated with a different light angle, especially the wall on the left - one judge thought the lighting poo9rly done, the background distracting, particularly the horizon and the angle a bit odd as if the photographer were standing above the plant and pointing down
#9 - Phalaenopsis noid
not much to criticize about this - perhaps a shot a little further away would have been better, allowing a bit more background and moving the flowers up slightly from the bottom of the
frame - just a bit busy, either shoot close-up or further away

#10 - Phalaenopsis equestris ‘Dark’
by far and away the best of the lot - I’d have moved the subject up slightly, but would be happy to claim this picture as my own

#11 - Cypripedium calceolus
somewhat overexposed and the main highlight on the flower appears to be blown - would have been better, I think, in portrait format and the twig should have been removed, otherwise a good field photo with a good angle on the flower
